Report From The Board (November 2009)
The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors was held 03 November 2009. The following matters were discussed:
BOARD EDUCATION – Mrs. Ruest presented an overview of the H1N1 and Pandemic Plan, the actions taken, and the educational/information opportunities available to staff and residents. The Centre’s Pandemic Plan has been revised and is available on the intranet. Visitation will not be restricted at the Centre unless an outbreak is declared. Handwashing stations have been set up at the entrance.
CORRESPONDENCE – The Board of Directors noted the Thank You card received from Sister Sheila Boase in appreciation for the Grand Opening event, and also the cake on that day to celebrate her birthday.
SISTER LIAISION’S REPORT
Special Ceremony - Sister Cuddihy explained that she attended a special ceremony in Montreal on 24 October 2009 at each of two sites where 16 Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph are buried off-site of the crypt at the Mother House. These Sisters perished in two epidemics and, therefore, could not be buried in the Sisters’ crypt.
“Women of Service” – This publication will be available in English soon.
Deaths – Sadly, several Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph in Amherstview have passed away in recent weeks.
Health System Executive – Sister Cuddihy explained that there is no longer a Health System Executive. Corporate meetings are held as needed.
ADMINISTRATION REPORT
Mrs. Ruest’s report covered: Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) Proposal (re Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act-FOIPPA), Slow-paced Rehab Programme, Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF), and Census Information.
COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING, FINANCE AND PERSONNEL RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Management Fiduciary Statement – The Board of Directors accepted the Management Fiduciary Statement for the month September 2009 and referred it to the Members of the Corporation for information.
Financial Statements – Mr. Despatie reviewed the Financial Statements. Both operations are on budget. The Board of Directors approved the Financial Statements for the period ended 30 September 2009 as presented.
Update on HAPS and LAPS – The deadline to submit the Hospital Accountability Planning Submission (HAPS) and Long-Term Care Homes Accountability Planning Submission (LAPS) has been changed to 15 December 2009.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES – The Education Calendar for November 2009 was circulated to the Board of Directors for information.
